As we can see, in Edit the Rule Description boxthere is a Format Style tab available with a drop-down button. Select the 3 Color Scale as shown below. Once we do that, we will see the 3 different color scale with value range which will appear as shown below.
Here, all 3 colors have the default value set in it. Now for complete range which is Minimum, Midpoint and Maximum, select the range by clicking on an icon or we can simply write the number from which we need to see the Heat Map color scaling. As we can see below, here we have chosen 0 as Minimum percentile range, 50 as Midpoint percentile range and as Maximum percentile range.
And click on OK. Note : We can change the color from the below color tab and check preview for how the color scaling will look like. As we can see above, with the help of selected color scaling, we got the Heat Map created which shows higher the data, more the dark will be the red color and lower the data, more light will be the green color.

I tried to write a small macro that would match cell font color to cell fill color but then learned the hard way that c olors applied by conditional formatting do not count as cell color. But found a very easy solution after some googling. Select cells with formulas and apply custom number format. Type ; ; ; as custom format.

There are times, however, when you might like to create a heatmap without seeing the actual data values, to create something like this:. When I ask people how they would hide the numbers and keep the colors, I typically hear a couple of guesses: Either delete the numbers or turn them to white. Though easy, neither work: In the former, the text and the colors both disappear—they are linked to the data, remember?
So what to do?
Well, we can use a little number formatting trick to hide the data values while maintaining the conditional formatting. Select the entire heatmap and then right-click to select Format Cells. At the bottom of the Format Cells menu is the Custom option.

At times, the viewers might be just be interested in the information and the numbers might not be necessary. As you can see, the numbers are not visible.
Next, you need to highlight the top five and bottom five values without displaying the numbers. This gives a quick visualization of high and low sales across the year and across the products. As you have chosen the same color for both fill and font, the values are not visible.
